Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster

One of the most eagerly anticipated launches of the spring has just launched at Escentual: the Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster is here, and it’s set to change the way you tan.

Now, I don’t say that lightly, as I know how seriously some people take their tanning regime. This product is something really special, though, as it allows you to transform any of your existing skincare products into a tan/skincare hybrid. Amazing, right? That means no more sacrificing your tailored oil-busting or anti-ageing skincare regime for an overnight tanning cream, or making sure that skin is well moisturised and completely dry before applying your self tan. It’s all done in one simple step.

The Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster is a little glass bottle filled with a concentration of self tanning active ingredients. When added to a scoop of your existing moisturising cream, gel or serum and applied to the skin, it works the same was as a normal self tanning product would do: it interacts with amino acids in the corneal layer to activate skin colouring. The difference is, by tailoring the amount of concentrate you put into the cream, you’re able to create your own made-to-measure tan!

The diminutive 15ml glass bottle looks rather unassuming at first. However, you only need 1-3 drops with every use depending on how tanned you’d like to appear, so it’ll keep you going for a long time.

The reason I love this product so much is because it allows even the most ardent tan-phobe to tailor a golden glow that suits them. Press the bottom to dispense three drops for a deep tan, or just one for a really natural look. Another appealing facet is its foolproof application. I’ve used the Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster every other day for two weeks (which is testament to its user-friendliness, as I am one of those aforementioned tan-phobes), and application has been even, non-patchy and streak-free. It even managed to fade completely evenly, which is a real first for me. And even more great news for those who shy away from the faux glow – it has a patented odourless formulation.

I’ve used it with both cream and serum textures, and it’s performed flawlessly each time. Clarins notes that you can also use it with gels, which I don’t doubt – the concentrate is dispensed as a lightweight oil-like fluid, and it’s really easily mixed.

You use the Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster once a day, and I find it’s much easier and problem-free to do it in the evening so that it develops overnight. As you’re using it with your usual skincare it sinks in quickly and doesn’t leave a trace of residue, which can be the case with regular self tanners. The first time I used the Golden Glow Booster, I tested its mettle by adding a single drop to my serum, and then two drops to my moisturiser. That worked out just fine! You can also designate those 3 drops to just the serum, or just the moisturiser. As long as you wait a minute or two for each layer to sink in, the results are much the same. I love a versatile product.

Once you’ve achieved your intended level of bronze (mine was after a single day – as I said, tan-phobe!), you maintain your colour with 1-2 drops of Golden Glow Booster every day. It’s easy, it’s adaptable, and it’s innovative, and I wholeheartedly recommend it for a year-round tan.
