Summer Escapade: Dolphin Island and Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park

I just got back from Misamis Occidental people! :) That is exactly the reason why I haven't blogged during the weekend and therefore had to announce the winners of my 3rd Blogversary Giveaway just today. If you joined that giveaway, make sure to check out the post or the poster at the sidebar. So, you might ask why was I at MisOc? My workmates and I planned an outing days prior to the trip to go and visit Dolphin Island and spend time at Misamis Occidental Aquamarine Park (MOAP) as part of our Summer Escapade slash Team Building.
First of all, I was dreading the long hours of travel via land using our own vehicles. I think we traveled around more than 6 hours going there from Zamboanga City. I dread the notion of having motion sickness because my tummy cannot take long hours on the road but with the right medicine and the right company, I guess I went thru just okay. Hurray for that! Once we got to the venue, wow, I felt so alive. Haha!

If you plan to visit MOAP, the entrance fee is only PHP10. For that cost, you can already tour around their mini zoo which to me is a maze of bamboo bridges. These foot bridges allow you to walk through the lush mangrove plantation and see animals in cages such as monkeys, birds, crocs and snakes.

We stayed at MOAP's Deluxe Suites which was actually on stilts with mangrove trees surrounding the entire villa. It was quite a sight plus it was loaded with fresh sea breeze. For our meals, we had to walk towards the far end of the wharf to reach their Ocean Grill restaurant which was practically in the middle of the ocean. We were served seafood and other delicious dishes.

If you would like to visit Dolphin Island, you can do so by riding the pumpboat. You only have to pay 300PHP per person to get there. Unfortunately, there was only one dolphin left out of the three because accordingly they escaped :( You can definitely go swimming there or pay PHP100 for a one hour snorkeling which we enjoyed a lot!

Overall, it was a really fun experience and it made my summer a good one! The only problem is that there isn't a lot of things you can do there. I was hoping we could do a lot more activities but anyway all is well :) You may also want to check out summer destinations such as Alindahaw or Dakak. So far my summer is going great.. how about yours? :)
