WHAT IS DEEP FRIED? PLEASE CLEAR YOUR CACHE AFTER READING

Now what do you think the following four things all have in common? (1) A potato. (2) A bowl of noodles. (3) An Egg. And (4) A great webcomic. What's that? You don't know the answer? Tut-tut-tut! Shame on you! Cause didn't you know they all taste real good when their deep fried? Especially the following webcomic published by my new pal...

1) What are your own origins, Jason? Plus what path did you take in life prior to getting to were you are today? Like most cartoonists working today, I am descended from Project Gordo: A joint collaboration between the Pentagon and Chipotle to create the perfect chimichanga. Why so many of those experiments gained sentience and started drawing is for the eggheads to figure out.
As for my path, it was more or less a straight line. I have wanted to be a cartoonist ever since I was old enough to realize that I don't want money. I began doing comics for local papers in Buffalo, NY, moved up to magazines, acquired an education in illustration at the University of Buffalo, and began self-publishing comic books in 2000.
2) What inspired you create your ‘What Is Deep Fried?’ webcomic? Deep Fried began as "Beepo and Roadkill", a comic strip that ran in the student newspaper at UB. I later tried to publish it as a newspaper strip, but before then I had been contaminated by Evan Dorkin's Milk and Cheese (still the funniest comic book I have ever read), and I was now ruined for "family" newspapers. Deep Fried, as a comic book anthology, came out in 2000, and the web strip soon followed at Whatisdeepfried.com.
For the past few years, however, my regular feature has been Weapon Brown, which began in Deep Fried and then took on a life of its own. I am looking forward to creating new Deep Fried material now that Weapon Brown is ending its run as the principle feature on my website. For its part, the omnibus Weapon Brown graphic novel -- collecting ten years of Weapon Brown stories -- just hit stores across the country in May.
3) In your own words how would you describe this tale? Deep Fried is exactly what the name suggests: greasy, irresistible, and so bad for you. Weapon Brown -- my lampoon of Peanuts set after the Apocalypse -- I usually describe as "a lawsuit on every page".
4) What song would you say best represents this project and why? That song would be "Closer", played on a Muppaphone. I think we all know why.

5) If you could get a celebrity – either living or dead – to promote your wares, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person? Adolf Hitler. That guy could sell monkey shit to a monkey shit wholesaler who already had sixteen warehouses filled with rancid, flyblown, monkey shit in a down market.
6) What have you learnt about yourself through this endeavour? And were there any unforeseen obstacles you had to contend with along the way? I have learned I don't know when to stop drawing comics and take up a nice, tenured teaching position like my father. You should see the house he lives in!
7) During your time in this field, what is the one thing that has kept you in good stead? Vitamin E supplements.
8) If ‘What Is Deep Fried?’ had a motto, what would it be? "Please clear your cache after reading."

So there you have it, dear readers. My mate Jason and his life as a comic book creator. When you have the time please feel free to click on over to his website, facebook page, and twitter stream. Go on. Treat yourself to one hell of a nice click.
