Eliott : Hi Carola! You already know how much I adore your work so thank you so much for sharing a few thoughts with me and my readers. So… Carola, who are you? What’s your story?
Carola : I’m a photographer and fashion lover based in Barcelona, working in Nikon. I have a fashion blog named caroladearmas.com and I contribute with DressLab Magazine and La Monda Magazine. I love travelling to the Fashion Weeks in Paris, Milan, London and New York…I wanted to share my photographs with other fashionistas all over the world.

Eliott : Before doing streetstyle were you already passionated by photography? When did you actually started streetstyle photography?
Carola : I grew up surrounded by cameras and after I graduated with a Master in Business Administration I pursued my love of photography so I enrolled at the Photography School and later I specialized in Fashion Photography. It started as a passion and has finished being my profession. I started street style photography two years ago in Paris. It was my first time in Fashion Week, one of the best weeks of my life.

Eliott : Do you remember the first streetstyle picture you took and were proud of? Can you tell us about it?
Carola : I received attention from the top fashion bloggers in Spain like Zina of Fashionvibe, Elisabeth of Miss Mass and Claudia of Miss Marbles. They helped me to attract more audience for my blog.

Eliott : I guess you’re probably fond of Bill Cunningham, Scott Schuman or Tommy Ton? Who and what inspires you?
Carola : I love so many different street style photographers. I love Adam Katz Sinding, Bill Cunningham, Candice Lake, Daniel Troyse, Scott Schuman, Zanita Morgan… Tommy Ton is also a huge inspiration. He is my favorite.

Eliott : Suzy Menkes dropped a bomb when she spoke about the fashion circus going on outside the show during fashion week… Do you think streetstyle is just a trend or is it going to last as the others forms of photography?
Carola : Street Style Photography is a genre of photography, creating images at a decisive moment around the world.

Eliott : What’s your advices for my readers who would like to start doing streetstyle?
Carola : Learn how to use your camera… practice a lot, and most importantly, have a good eye, that is all you need!

Eliott : Bonjour Carola, merci de partager ton travail et quelques pensées avec mes lecteurs. Alors Carola, qui es tu? Quelle est ton histoire?
Carola : Je vis à Barcelone où je met à profit ma passion pour la mode grace à la photo. Je travaille d’ailleurs en pareallèle chez Nikon. Je travaille aussi de près avec DressLab Magazine ainsi que La Monda Magazine et on peut me retrouver sur mon blog. J’aime les voyages, notemmant lorsqu’il s’agot des fashion weeks de Milan, Paris, Londres, en passant par NYC. J’ai voulu partager mes photos avec toutes les personnes passionnées par la mode.
Eliott : Etais tu déjà passionnée par la photographie avant de te faire connaitre en streetstyle? D’ailleurs, quand et comment as tu commencé?
Carola : J’ai grandie entourée d’appareils photos et apres avoir decrocher mon MBA j’ai decidé de me consacrer à mon amour pour la photo. Je me suis donc inscrite dans une école spécialisée et plus tard je me suis spécialisé en photographie mode. J’ai donc commencé par passion et j’ai fini par en faire ma profession. J’ai commencé la photographie streetstyle (Style de rue) il y a maintenant deux ans, à Paris. C’était ma première fashion week, une des semaines les plus incroyables de ma vie.
Eliott : Te souviens tu de la première photo streetstyle dont tu étais fière? Raconte nous.
Carola : J’ai reçu beaucoup d’attention grace à des shootings que j’ai fais avec des bloggueuses Espagnoles comme… Elles m’ont aidé à attirer plus d’audience sur mon blog.
Eliott : Je suppose que tu es admirative du travail de Bill Cunningham, Scott Schuman ou encore Tommy Ton? D’où viens ton inspiration?
Carola : J’aime tellement de photographes streetstyle. Pour ne citer qu’eux : Adam Katz Sinding, Bill Cunningham, Candice Lake, Daniel Troyse, Scott Schuman, Zanita Morgan… Tommy Ton est aussi une très grande inspiration. C’est mon préféré.
Eliott : Suzy Menkes à lâché une bombe quand elle a mentionné le cirque qui se déroule devant les portes dorées des défilés… Penses tu que le streetstyle est un effet de mode à son apogée et en déclin où penses tu que c’est une forme de photographie pérenne comme d’autres?
Carola : Le streetstyle est un genre de photographie comme un autre. Il permet de créer des images, des souvenirs, à un moment décisif, partout dans le monde.
Eliott : Un conseil pour mes lecteurs qui seraient intéressés par le streetstyle?
Carola : Pour commencer il faut d’ores et déjà apprendre à utiliser un appareil photo, beaucoup de pratique par la suite et surtout avoir un bon oeil. C’est tout ce dont vous avez besoin!
