Patrick Demarchelier at A. Galerie in Paris
Patrick Demarchelier’s work is currently on show at A. Galerie, located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris across the street from the Yves Saint Laurent – Pierre Bergé Foundation. Here are a few of my favorite pictures to give you a sneak peek of this exhibition named Desire ending July 22nd.
L’œuvre de Patrick Demarchelier est actuellement exposée à la A. Galerie dans le 16ème arrondissement, juste en face de la Fondation Yves Saint Laurent – Pierre Bergé. Voici quelques-unes de mes photos préférées pour vous donner un aperçu de cette expo nommée Désire qui se termine le 22 juillet.
A French photographer living in New York City, Patrick Demarchelier has collaborated with nearly all the major fashion publications and brands. For this exhibition, A. Galerie has selected only works in black and white. The 20 images represent mostly well-known models, highlighting Demarchelier’s ability to capture the woman’s body. I’m not sure who said this (Cindy Crawford maybe?): Demarchelier’s women are always strong. Portrayed here without the adornments of fashion, they are free to express their own character. Demarchelier’s style reminds me at times of Peter Lindbergh, whom I told you about in a past post.
Français vivant à New York, Patrick Demarchelier est un personnage incontournable de la photographie de mode. Pour cette expo, la A. Galerie a sélectionné 20 photographies en noir et blanc, représentant essentiellement des top models et mettant en valeur le corps de la femme. Je ne sais plus quel mannequin a dit ça (Cindy Crawford peut-être) : les femmes de Demarchelier sont toujours fortes. Débarrassées ici des fioritures de la mode, elles peuvent exprimer librement leur caractère. Son travail me rappelle parfois celui de Peter Lindbergh dont je vous avais parlé à l’occasion d’une autre expo.
