Celebrate!! (…Almost)

This last month of intern year has been dragginggggg! Which is weird, because the hospital has been crazy busy, which usually helps time fly by. Sigh, only a few more days, though. The new intern class is finishing up their orientation this week. They’ll be starting next week (when my class is on vacation!). I haven’t met any of them yet, but our program director gave an extensive presentation of the backgrounds of all of them (where they’re from, where they did school, hobbies, research, etc). Not that I remember anything in particular. I’ll likely ask them all the same questions when I finally meet them. And I can’t wait to meet them! Meeting new interns = we are no longer interns We’ll finally be the team leaders… no longer the bottom of the education pyramid!! Ha.

J. Crew Shirt, Express Shorts (chambray version), Sigerson Morrison Shoes (also available at Bloomies and on sale in black, nude and silver), Celine Bag For the past week or so I’ve been shopping like my closet self-destructed and I need to rebuild a wardrobe STAT. Its been easy to justify with 1) Celebrate the end of intern year!!! and 2) Nothing has worked out recently, so I’m sure I’ll return most of it. Ah, yes, but of course. Just when I overbuy with plans on returning, nearly everything works out. And not just, eh, this is nice. But oh my gosh this is comfortable and gorgeous and I can think of 3857382 different ways to wear it… like these shoes. Not typical Amber shoes. But somehow they just work. They take my casual outfit one step dressier, as opposed to they typical flip flops or loafers that I’d otherwise be wearing.
But these shoes were just the beginning. I’m not usually a Saks shopper, but for some reason I felt inclined to look at their sale shoes. Not only did I get the above pair, I also fell in love with the beautiful shape of Alejandro Ingelmo pumps, and ended up with the Frederica in navy/black. I was 99% sure these wouldn’t fit. Bah, but they do. And they’re stunning!! They’ll definitely dress up any outfit. Since I was sure the first two pairs wouldn’t work out, I added a pair of work-appropriate DVF wedges to the order (sold out at Saks, but some sizes still available at the outnet, bloomingdales and DVF’s site), which I already knew were crazy comfortable. Those are obviously keepers.

Another sigh. If only it ended there. But no. Remember my review on the Birkenstock Arizona Sandal? Those were rubbing a bit too much for me to handle, so I returned them and instead grabbed the Madrid Slip On. Whoa, 100% more comfortable and flattering (and 1/2 the price)! Review to come. But wait, there’s more (unreceived orders, so hopefully these will be returns…). Are you a Yoox shopper at all? I first started intermittently shopping there maybe 3 or 4 years ago. They have a ton of unique stuff. Some from brands I’m familiar with (DVF, Prada, Givenchy, Equipment, etc), but a lot from designers I’ve never heard of. Some of my favorite finds are from there (like my Majestic blazer, 90% off, recently worn here). They have an extra 20% off sale with HAPPYOOX (which unlike other retailers, is very rare for Yoox), so I decided to try out a few items. If you need some fun items and are sick of the monotony and popularity of J. Crew, Ann Taylor, H&M, etc., give their sale section a quick browse!
