Running Backwards in High Heels

Running Lately

Getting out of my running funk was a bit of a struggle, but I’m happy to say that it has happened. Hood to Coast helped, as well as signing up for the next sub 2 half attempt at Talladega. I must say, Talladega will be warm but I think a cool front is moving through (fingers crossed), and I think the weather could make it tough, but I am looking forward to the team we have going from Resolute. It’s going to be a blast, no matter the outcome.

I also found a pair of shorts that work for me, and it’s been life changing. I’ve always loved the cut of the Lululemon Speed short, but never felt comfortable enough in how short they are on me. With the promise from my friend Joey that shorty shorts make you run faster, I set out to find a pair. What I did was go up a size in the speed shorts, than what I wear in the skirts or the tights. I’ve since bought two pair and I’ve also stopped caring if my cellulite shows when I run… you’ll get over it, if you’re behind me. If not, we probably wouldn’t be very good friends anyway!

Huma Gel has also come out with two new flavors… Blueberry and Mango. They are so delicious and I love them for fuel instead of Gu on long runs. They are made from Chia seeds so they are completely natural and don’t give the dreaded stomach cramps during that long run.

And last but not least, I can’t believe the amazing support from my family and friends that was offered while I was running Hood to Coast.. it honestly made me a tad emotional. Friends made care packages, my husband got up really early and stayed up really late to make airport runs, family picked up my kids from school and taxied them all over town… it’s truly amazing and I can’t thank everyone enough for that.
