My Trip to San Francisco with Stitch Fix & LUNA (Part 1)

If you’ve been following me on Instagram and Twitter this past week, you already got a glimpse into the amazing time I had in San Francisco with Stitch Fix, LUNA and a group of fellow bloggers. This was the first blogging trip I’ve been invited on, and I couldn’t have been more excited. Not only were the Stitch Fix and LUNA teams wonderful, but I loved meeting the other bloggers/YouTubers.

I’m proud of how much Pumps & Iron has grown in the two years since I started, but it still has a long way to go, and it was really inspiring for me to spend time with these successful, entrepreneurial ladies. You guys probably already follow some, if not all, of the other kickass chicks on the trip. Along for the fun were Sarah from Sarah Fit, Brittany from Eating Bird Food, Bex from Bex Life, Danny from Sweaty Betties, Julie from Peanut Butter Fingers, Gina from Fitnessista, Anne from fANNEtastic Food and Monica from Run Eat Repeat. Such a fun group!

TUESDAY

I was one of the first to arrive at the beautiful house in the Haight-Ashbury area that Stitch Fix and LUNA put us up in for the trip. Everyone got their own large bedroom and LUNA stocked the kitchen with some healthy staples—avocados, toast, oatmeal, almond butter, fruit and, of course, LUNA bars. We were warmly welcomed with goodie bags from both Stitch Fix and LUNA—a handbag, toiletries, a new FitBit Flex (!), yoga mat and nail polish.

While waiting for the other girls to arrive, Sarah, Brittany and I went out to explore the Haight-Ashbury area a little. We checked out an artisan foods store, grabbed smoothies and juices, and probably unintentionally breathed in a joint’s worth of secondhand weed smoke haha. Haight-Ashbury is a very hippie/alternative area—lots of A people watching!

Later that day, we were joined by Bex and Danny for dinner at Nopalito, a tapas restaurant close to our house. The food was great! We got fish tacos (pictured), ceviche, a quesadilla, salad and chips & salsa to split. The ceviche was definitely my favorite. After dinner we were all pretty exhausted, so after saying hello to the girls who had arrived that night, we went to bed.

WEDNESDAY

Yoga in the Park

LUNA had their in-house yoga instructor, Sadie, come lead us through a class in Golden Gate Park, which I was really excited about since I’ve been slacking on my practice lately. We’d have a busy next couple days, so it was the perfect way to kick things off.

Visiting Stitch Fix HQ

The morning was spent at the Stitch Fix office checking out some of their newer clothing, jewelry and accessories. I saw tons of stuff I want to request in my next fix!

Scavenger Hunt around the Marina

After lunch, we broke up into three teams of three for a friendly scavenger hunt competition around the Marina area of SF. Since it was my first time visiting the city, I was excited to get a chance to see some of the noteworthy/touristy landmarks. For each of the six locations, we had to take a different picture for Instagram—planking at the Presidio, dancing at Lombard Street, jumping in front of the Golden Gate Bridge, etc.

I was joined by Julie and Gina on my team (whaddup Team Two!), and although our pictures scored major creativity points (in my not-so-humble opinion), we spent a liiittle too much time drinking Irish Coffees at The Buena Vista (would you expect anything less of me??) and were a half hour late getting back to the original meeting point. Oopsies. Needless to say, we didn’t win.

The Palace of Fine Arts was my favorite stop on the scavenger hunt—it was so gorgeous! It looked like something out of a Disney movie.

Cooking Class at Sur la Table

For dinner we headed to Sur La Table, where Chef Stefan led us through a wine-fueled cooking class. On the menu was kale salad with pickled watermelon and feta, grilled citrus chicken skewers with quinoa, corn and lime and flourless chocolate lava cake for dessert. Everything was delicious!

Tired after a busy day, I called it a night after dinner. Recap of the next day coming to the blog soon!
