Sunshine S’mores Mason Jar Recipe

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, so it’s time to start lobbying for that “Best Mom” coffee mug.

Here’s a little something you can use to bribe the voting committee.

If you’ve ever tried to fry an egg on the sidewalk on a hot summer day or made a solar hot dog cooker in Girl Scouts or experimented with cooking on your car’s engine, then this recipe is for you. And if you love ooey gooey chocolate — or love someone who does — you’re going to love this recipe, too.

To make these Sunshine S’mores, layer Teddy Grahams or Scooby Snacks graham cracker snacks in a 4-ounce glass jar. Top with a layer of miniature marshmallows and 3 squares of chocolate. (A Hershey bar will make 4 servings of Sunshine S’mores.)

Seal the jars and place in the sun for several hours, until the chocolate melts and the marshmallows puff up. (Or if the weather fails you, zap each jar in the microwave for a few seconds.)

I like to nestle a jar on the sunny dashboard of my car a few hours before it’s time to pick my son up from school. By the time I make it through the car-rider line, the s’mores are melted and ready to eat.

The “Best Mom” voting committee has been known to award extra points for presentation.

That’s why I like to top my jars with colorful fabric circles and attach a wooden spoon (embellished with rub-on or stamped letters). I also made some cute printable Sunshine S’mores labels for the jar lid using my Silhouette Cameo.

You can download the free printable labels by clicking here or on the image above.

Good luck with the campaigning. May the best mom win!
