Festive Nail Lacquers

Jessica Go for the Gold Collection

L-R: OPI Incognito in Sausalito | OPI I Snow You Love Me | OPI Don't Touch My Tutu

Not being one to pass up on an opportunity for a themed manicure, Christmas is perfect for cracking out the slightly outlandish glitters and top coats. My picks this year are from the polish powerhouses Jessica and OPI; the former offering being themed around Gold and the latter from OPI collections past but ones I’ve been picking out to adorn my talons of late.
Jessica’s Go for the Gold Collection* is a limited edition release for 2013 and hits the spot for my inner chrysophilist (a word what I found off Google). One opaque gold and three top-coat glitters they’re all super easy to apply and the formulations are spot on. I don’t think any of them are ‘too much’—and if you’re not so keen for all-out glitters they’d look lovely as an accent nail or to accentuate a ‘half moon’ manicure. The set is £15.95 which is decent value and it’s here.
My OPI picks are less obviously festive but paired together they (to me, at least) give off quite the wintery vibe whilst staying away from the traditional reds and golds. Incognito in Sausalito* is an almost black-blue that was one of the shades from OPI’s San Francisco Collection and is a really demure, classy shade. Don’t Touch My Tutu many of you will remember from the New York City Ballet Collection that launched last year; I think the muted, jelly-crème formula is pretty timeless and fits nicely with the whole ‘snow’ side of Christmastime. Paired up with my OPI glitter of choice—I Snow You Love Me from this Christmas’ OPI Mariah Carey collection, it tones down the drama of this chunky glitter whilst giving an eye-catching, fun manicure. I really like the pairing of the two.

Those are my polish picks for this years’ festivities—I’d love to know yours!
