Desk Essentials

It’s depressing but true that I spend much of my waking life at my desk so it's a requirement I have tried-and-tested essentials on hand to get my skin through the long days. The main issues are pretty standard: dry hands, dry lips. These three products are my absolute must-haves to get me through even the most uneventful days in the office.

Caudalie Miel de Vigne Hand & Nail Cream, £5.40 I’ve sung the praises of French skincare brand Caudalie many a time on this blog and I’m doing it again today—the Miel de Vigne hand cream is a rich, buttery formulation that sinks in quickly and provides an instant yet lasting burst of moisture. Without being too greasy, it’s just enough to keep your hands supple and nourished. Scent-wise it’s nothing earth-shattering—think a toned down Steamcream—a gentle, comforting, wheat-like scent that won’t offend any colleagues’ nostrils.

Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream*, £4.79
Burt’s Bees Lemon
This has been a revolution for me; as a devotee of Jessica Nails’ Phenomen-Oil (which truly lives up to its name), I never really considered the idea of being able to treat cuticles on the go. Step in Burts’ Bees and this tub of lemony goodness—a soft, mildly grainy balm that not only smells good enough to eat, but does a fine job of massaging cuticles to perfection. This is a miniature size, so you’re getting twice the amount pictured—decent bang for your buck, I think you’ll agree!
Korres Mandarin Lip Butter Stick SPF15 - Purple, £7.20
The Korres Lip Butters have been much hailed in the beauty blogging world and I’m certainly a fan. That being said, they’re not really ‘desk-proof’—who wants to dunk their finger into a pot of sticky balm and then keep typing? Not I. Enter the brand new Lip Butter sticks—available in a range of colours, they’re not only incredibly well pigmented but also hydrating and long-wearing on the lips. Perfect to pop on before a meeting or just to keep your lips cared for throughout the day (and if you’re not one for a colourful lip, there’s a colourless version). Throw in the fact they’re SPF15 and I think we have a winner.
