Easy Christmas Art with the Dremel Micro

I am just in love with the Easy Personalized Kid Decorated Christmas Art we made with our new Dremel Micro 8050!

Being that this was my first time using the Dremel I was pretty nervous. Luckily there are plenty of “How To” videos on the Dremel website.

It took just a bit of trial and error to figure out engraving. The slower the speed of the Dremel the easier it is to control your lines.

I played with the different Dremel tool attachments, discovering what each one did. Have to admit that was fun!

My husband created this Christmas tree cut out from a cookie cutter.

We decided to make an ornament that our daughter Alice could decorate herself. We thought to add it to a plaque creating a keepsake decoration for Christmas that we could display year after year.

We let Alice paint the wooden Christmas tree ornament with pretty green glitter paint.

Once it was dry, I applied the hot glue and she carefully added the beads for ornaments.

Now to the wooden plaque. After tracing the letters with a pencil, I used a Dremel high speed cutter to engrave Alice’s name and the year into the wood plaque. The new LED light feature is great!

Then I painted the plaque. I discovered after I painted that I needed to sand the letters down. I carefully sanded the letters down with a Dremel sanding wheel. Then I added another coat of white.

I let Alice trace her name and the year with sparkly paint of her choice. I tried to convince her to use red but purple won. I mean, it is being decorated by her right?!

I just love how it came out! Wouldn’t it just make a wonderful present for a loved one! Perfect for Grandparents or Aunts and Uncles!

This one is MINE, though. I love it and it’s going up on my wall every year for Christmas.
