MAC 109 Small Contour Brush Review

A girl can never have too many brushes! Especially cheek brushes! I love to highlight and contour to add definition to my small, chubby face so I’m always on the hunt for a good cheek brush. One of my favorites is the MAC 109 Small Contour Brush. It’s such great quality and very versatile!

The 109 Small Contour Brush is part of MAC’s permanent range so it features the typical MAC design. The handle is matte black with silver detailing and measures 18.5 cm long. The ferrule is made of nickel and has a shiny silver design. I’ve had the 109 brush for almost a year now and it’s held up extremely well so far! I’ve experienced very little shedding during wash time and the ferrule is still firmly bonded to the handle.

The 109 brush is pretty small so it’s perfect for smaller faces and fitting into the hollows of cheeks. The small brush head allows for precise placement and blending which it makes it pretty darn versatile. It’s listed as a contour brush but I like to use the 109 to highlight, contour and apply blush. It’s made of natural fibers (MAC doesn’t list the type online) and feels incredibly soft on the face. Never scratchy. The bristles are pretty tightly packed yet fluffy so it picks up product well and blends like a dream. I prefer to use the 109 with powders but I’ve used it to blend out cream products and it performed pretty well. It’s just an all around great brush!

The MAC 109 Small Contour Brush does cost a pretty penny ($35) but it’s an excellent investment and well worth the money. With just a little maintenance it will last you quite some time! I absolutely recommend checking it out the next time you visit your local MAC store or counter.
