Too Faced Melted Violet Lipstick VS L.A. Girl Coy Glazed Lip Paint

Are you ready to rumble?? ‘Cause it’s about to be a purple smack-down! In one corner, we have the challenger, L.A. Girl Coy Glazed Lip Paint. And in the other corner, we have the lightweight champ, Too Faced Melted Violet Lipstick. Both lippies will battle it out through 3 intense rounds to prove just who’s best. Let’s get started!

Round 1: Application

Both lippies feature a plastic squeeze tube design but the application experience is completely different! Coy has a slanted plastic applicator that’s easy to use but not really ideal for the formula. Depending on how much product you disperse it can be difficult to achieve a clean, precise application. Melted Violet, on the other hand, is a breeze to apply. The soft, doe foot applicator is easy to use and control. It may soak up a little bit of product (which can be wasteful) but it really comes in handy when you accidentally disperse too much. Melted Violet wins this round!

Round 2: Color & Formula

It’s easy to see why so many people (including me) initially compared the L.A. Girl Glazed Lip Paints to the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks. The packaging is very similar and the color range (initially) looked pretty close too. The colors and formulas couldn’t be more different though! Coy is a cool, pale lavender with strong blue undertones. While Melted Violet is a lighter and more vibrant cool toned violet. They’re nowhere near dupes for each other!

As the name implies, Melted Violet is a liquid lipstick so it has a thicker consistency and lasts longer but it can also be drying sometimes. Coy feels and performs more like a pigmented gloss. It has a thin, watery texture that slips around a bit but it’s slightly moisturizing and comfortable to wear. It doesn’t last as long as Melted Violet but it’s much easier on the lips. This is a really, really close round but I’m going to have to choose Coy as the winner!

Round 3: Price

Well, this is going to be an easy one! Although Melted Violet looks a little bigger it contains the same amount of product as Coy (0.4 oz). It’s also about 5 times more expensive too ($21 vs $4). Not only are you getting the same amount of product (and pigmentation) you also get to save a few bucks with Coy. Coy obviously wins this round! Overall, it may seem like Coy is victorious but Melted Violet is far from a loser. If you’re not much of a gloss gal I think you’ll love Melted Violet a little more than Coy. It all comes down to personal preference!

Bonus Round!

Coy didn’t exactly live up to be the Melted Violet dupe we thought it would but I found something pretty close! Remember the Milani Lip Intense Liquid Lip Colors that came out earlier this year? Well they’re very similar to the Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipsticks. Violet Addict is close both in color and texture to Melted Violet. It leans a bit more pink but it has a similar consistency and lasts just as long. I think Violet Addict is a much more appropriate dupe if you’re looking to save a few bucks!
