The Basics: FL101

Let’s talk about the basics.

We’ve chatted about them a bit before, but I want to go more in depth with you today and discuss the details of some of our France Luxe Classics. Let’s call it FL101 and be reminiscent of those school days. I promise this will be a fun course… and no homework!

The first, and likely most popular classic materials is what we call Tokyo. It’s simple and beautifully elegant. And it’s likely a material you have seen before. It’s very similar to what many times is called Tortoise. Why? Because it has a tendency to look a bit like a tortoise’s shell. As you know, we do not use actual tortoise shell, but we are in love with this popular classic! This looks gorgeous in all hair colors, dark, light or in between!

Next up, our number two best seller: Tortoise. And no, this one isn’t made from real tortoise shell either. But it looks similar to it in some ways too, hence the name. It’s got a copper/red tone that accents strawberry blondes or those lucky ladies sporting red locks. Bonus? It matches nearly everything again, just like Tokyo!

Third is Ivory Tokyo. As the name suggests, it’s quite similar to Tokyo in pattern, but is accented with ivory. To me, this is one of our most elegant classics, because I’m pretty sure you can’t go wrong with what is essentially black and white. This is a go-to for many, and works well with black or grey hair as well as brunettes.

Next is one of our most unique classics: Opera Silver. This black, white and gold material is bold, exquisite and will stand out in your hair. The intricate design gives a distinct texture to your hair style. Opera Silver stands out best on blondes and blends beautifully with grey or dark hair.

Finally, the most abstract classic of them all is Onyx. This creamy silver mixture is stunning on all hair colors because it has a touch of just about every one of them in it. As each barrette is hand crafted and cut from a larger piece, no two will look exactly alike, and in this pattern, I love that uniqueness.

One thing I need to clarify for you is this: my suggestions for pairing these classic materials with different hair colors are just that, suggestions. Each one can be worn on any hair color, so don’t take my tips as law. Feel free to be you and wear your favorite!

Now, I did promise no homework, but I have to ask one question of you, which is your favorite? Let me know what you think in the comments!

xo,
Jen
