I find it funny that one of the most iconic women in myth gave men a headache from the start. The shear thought of a woman brought forth pain and changed the course of history.
Of course I hadn't intended to draw the birth of Athena, but only realized in retrospect the allusion. I had drawn these two models in separate rooms and, having been too lazy to turn the page, continued the study on the same page. It makes me question the role of art historians, and how much of analysis and interpretation is coincidence. And, how much coincidence is governed by fate and subconscious thought.
