Since finishing puberty circa 1997 and regretfully realising that I probably wouldn't ever grow past 5'5", I have longed to be just a bit taller! I know I'm not short in the sense of being mistaken for Bilbo Baggins or Ronnie Corbett, but a few extra inches definately wouldn't go a miss. Seeing that I'm absolutely crap in high heels and that Willy Wonka's stretching machine doesn't actually exist outside the world of Roald Dahl, I was starting to think that I would remain one of the worlds wee folk forever; until I discovered the 'flatform' that is! Not wanting to look like a psychotic Gerri Harriwell wannabe or a child in corrective, orthopedic shoes, I have always been wary of this particular style of footwear. But when I spotted this rainbow soled pair sitting at only £15 in the Office sale I just couldn't resist their gratuitously chunky charm. They take a bit of getting used to in terms of walking in a straight line whilst trying to not resemble a Thunderbird (the flatform is approx 7 inches), but once you have got the hang of them, Lord are they a thing of powerful magnificence! They have all the comfort of a pair of Converse, mixed with the height of of a 'fuck me heel' and the stability of a steel toed biker boot.
Tank Girl would definately approve me thinks; indeed, anyone messing with me wearing these bad boys is heading for a multi-hued scissor kick to the soft bits!
