Twenty-Six Weeks

I almost threw this post up without any commentary besides the weekly stats because I couldn't think of anything to say. But hello! It's been a fun, busy week. How could I forget.

My birthday was this past Monday, so we celebrated all weekend and into the first part of this week. I can't remember what we did on Saturday, but Sunday afternoon we had a small family party at my Aunt and Uncle's house and I got to sleep in on Monday morning because I took the week off work. Best way to wake up on your birthday if you ask me.

Later that day, Joy and I met up for brunch and then watched Gatsby back at her house because there is nothing appealing at the movies right now? That night, once James was off work, we celebrated some more at a nice restaurant down in Corona del Mar.

Tuesday morning we rounded off birthday celebrations with brunch at one of my favorite spots before James had to go to work, and then I went down to San Diego to pick up some baby things from friends and meet up for a walk with Caleb.

The one thing I said I wanted to accomplish during this week off was sorting through boxes in our hall closet and under our bed and all over the place really. But after a long day Tuesday, all I was able to accomplish on Wednesday was to do the weekly grocery shopping, drop off some things at the post office, and just a lot of other random things that I never seem to have time to do.

It's been surprising to me how often I have to stop and take breaks. I still feel really good and feel like I have a normal amount of energy. But I can't go for very long stretches until I need to sit down for a minute. So I'm not getting as much done as I'd hoped to, but progress is still being made.

Yesterday I set up the co-sleeper in our room (that really makes things feel a lot more real) and finished up some more errands. I have a lot on my list today, but I'm guessing by my track record that I'll be lucky if I accomplish half of that list.

Tomorrow afternoon, we're heading up to LA for Jaden's 4th birthday party! And Sunday we start going through the Bradley Method book and prepping for this thing called labor that still feels so far away, but is creeping up on us.

WEEKLY STATS

How far along?
26 weeks
Total weight gain: 19 pounds
Maternity clothes? Yep. I can't fit into much else anymore.
Stretch marks? Nothing yet.
Sleep Habits: I was doing so well for so long but this past week I've had some trouble initially falling asleep. I don't know if it's because it's been warmer weather or because I just can't get comfortable or what the problem is. I did finally get my hands on a big ole pregnancy pillow which I just used for the first time last night, and while I didn't notice much difference in the quality of my sleep, it is definitely easier to change positions with just one pillow instead of trying to readjust three.
Best moment(s) this week: Picking up a ton of baby stuff from friends in San Diego: the co-sleeper, a couple more carriers, some more newborn sleepers, the pregnancy pillow, a breastfeeding pillow, a couple of baby lounger pillows and a bouncer. Now we are just trying to figure out what to do about our current beast of a bedroom set... I want to downsize, but it's just feeling like a lot of work at the moment.
Miss anything? Sleeping on my stomach. That's still the big one.
Movement: Yep. Little man's got some legs on him. For sure.
Food cravings: No real cravings still. I don't know if that is more of an early pregnancy symptom or if I should expect that to come back?
Anything making you queasy or sick: As long as I do all of the things I'm supposed to do (eat balanced meals, exercise regularly, get enough sleep..) I feel great. If I mess up in any of those categories then I do start to feel a little out of sorts.
Gender: Boy
Labor Signs: Nope
Symptoms: I haven't noticed any new symptoms this week.. just trying to enjoy the last couple of weeks of the second trimester!
Belly Button in or out? Still in! Apparently it's not ready to pop yet. The top bit is making the first move though, so I don't think it can be that many more weeks.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy :) But often tired and occasionally overwhelmed. Mostly happy though.
Looking forward to: The holidays! Family coming into town for the baby shower in November. Meeting this little dude. We're looking forward to a lot of things. Can't complain about that.
