Style Inspiration: Olympic Figure Skaters

Even though figure skaters can’t wear too much jewelry, when they do they really make it count. Figure skating is a Winter Olympics fan-favorite, and watching the talented figure skaters from around the world compete in Sochi this month is no exception. While the layman probably can’t tell the difference between a salchow and a lutz jump, we can ooh and ahh while admiring the feminine, sparkly outfits that dress up the rink.

Our latest style inspiration is coming straight from the ice! Check out some of our favorite Olympic-inspired looks below.

Team USA figure skater Ashley Wagner, now notoriously known for her colorful range of emotions upon receiving her short program score in Sochi, has stand-out Olympic style. Not only do we love her black dress with a gem-encrusted neckline, we love her dramatic red lipstick and black stud earrings she matched to her outfit.

South Korean figure skating icon Yuna Kim’s multi-row gemstone collar may be attached to her figure skating dress, but you can turn this into an everyday look with a multi-row CZ choker glam enough to make a statement of Olympic proportions.

We love Italian figure skater Carolina Kostener’s winter white dress that she wore during her first appearance in Sochi. She paired it with simple studs and a dainty, by-the-yard style necklace for a super-feminine look.

American figure skating it-girl Gracie Gold can’t be spotted on the ice without her evil eye necklace. In an interview with People Style Watch, she said that she was first given an evil eye necklace by her first ballet trainer, and now she won’t compete without one! Her good luck charm must be working, as her freestyle performance helped the U.S. team take home a bronze medal in the Sochi 2014 team figure skating event.
