Differentiated Kindergarten's Classroom Helpers

Do you have classroom helpers? Or is it more of a pain than a help?
A reader recently asked me about using ‘helpers’ in my classroom and if I would share how I set this up with my kinders.

I have to admit, I don't always do classrooms helpers because some classes just aren't into it. However, this year's class are all about their jobs.

These job cards are not my brain child. In fact, they're my buddy Tammy, from Live Love Laugh Everyday In Kindergarten.

I love them because they are bright, cheerful and (best of all) customizable. I hung mine on a ribbon with a book ring on the end and have them on a peg board.

I placed each student's name on a little clothes pin. There are only 10 helpers so not every child has a job each day. But each day, the clothes pins move down. When they reach the bottom of the list, they move over and their names are turned around and unseen until they are back at the top of the chart and given a job again.

Really simple and easy to keep up with each day. Believe me, they never forget that jobs need to change each day, and it doesn't take long for them to be able read each job and know who is responsible for it each day. I actually think I will add a few more jobs next year and with this customizable set, it will be easy to make them fit my class' needs.
