The Cut called the ad "garbage" -- citing the campaign's dexterity to make women feel dumb as a point of shame, while
Jezebel dubbed it "their most bullshit yet." Said Jezebel, "It's definitely true that positive thinking works miracles. But that's not what this campaign is really about; it's about teaching women that Dove knows better. Dove is smarter. You should buy Dove because they're on your side and they can teach you things." While it's true that the events of the video can be construed as humiliating and that this alleged patch can and will continue to be misrepresented by anyone willing to interject with an opinion, isn't there some value in bringing to surface that near universal truth that women holster complicated relationships with beauty? Frankly, I'm conflicted. How did you feel about this campaign? (
