CLOSE SHAVE SOCIETY

Hair removal is an issue we all have to deal with, unless you’re lucky, Gisele, or both. Let’s just be honest here, ladies and gents (yep this post is for both of you!) I spend more time than I would like removing hair. What happens when you take two dark haired olive-skinned parents and put them together? You get a daughter who resembles a Gallagher brother if she loses her tweezers and can’t exactly ‘let it grow’ on the old legs between waxes. Have you SEEN Chewbacca? I’ve tried everything, from laser hair removal (it came back!) to epilating (owww not on the legs, nooo) and waxing (see Chewbacca) and have come back full circle to the humble razor. When it comes to removing leg hair there really isn’t another option for me.

So why am I rambling about hairy legs? Well I was recently introduced to the Close Shave Society which is a subscription service for razors. You sign up, choose your blade, choose how often you want them delivered and they will arrive, without you having to remember to add them to your supermarket trolley or hunt for special offers. The other amazing thing is that you can cancel at any time and the razors are excellent quality but don’t cost anywhere near what you’d pay for the high street equivalent – prices start at £4 for four blades including P&P. If you think about what goes into a high street razor – the packaging, the space in stores, the TV adverts and the celebrity endorsements, you’re paying for an already overpriced Footballer to pretend he loves something for a cheesy advert and some square footage in Tesco rather than the blade itself.

My other half Matt has been trialling the blades and we have been so impressed by the quality that we have signed up for a delivery ourselves, in fact, I put a new blade on and gave it a whirl myself and was wowed. Close Shave Society do offer a ladies blade but am I the only one who thinks mens razors are better at getting silky smooth legs than ladies offerings? If like me you’re a fan of razors for the ease of the bone or you usually have to pick up blades for your other half when doing the food shop, it would definitely be worth your while to give this service a go. You could even treat yourselves every couple of months with the savings you make from not lining celebrities pockets!
