RITA ORA FOR RIMMEL LONDON

I love Rimmel. I think they are a great British brand that can be relied on for great products at equally fantastic prices. They were a familiar name in my teenage years but in the last two years in particular, they’ve upped their game and have brought products to the high street that were previously only the domain of the beauty halls. I think it’s great that if you want an eyeshadow primer, metallic liquid shadows, amazing lip products and great bases you can get them whatever your budget and Rimmel have been at the forefront of a lot of that.

Another thing I love about them is their new collections that keep things fresh. Brands don’t have to be churning these out every month (MAC I’m looking at you honey) but it is nice to mix things up a little bit, generate a bit of a buzz and keep innovating. I feel like Rimmel do this often enough to keep things interesting but infrequently enough to have them not be rushed or feel like an afterthought. It’s a good balance. They’ve worked with Zooey Deschanel and Kate Moss – now Rita Ora is the latest celebrity to collaborate with them, releasing her own range of lip and nail products.

L-R White Hot Love, Lose Your Lingerie, Let’s Get Nude, Breakfast in Bed, Pillow Talk, Do Not Disturb, Blindfold me Blue, Oragasm, Raw as Night, Don’t be Shy, Midnight Rendezvous, Rita Rouge.

Firstly let’s take a peep at the lineup. The collection contains 12 brand new nail shades which are part of the 60 Seconds range – a personal favourite formula of mine. The collection has been split into 6 cool shades and 6 warm shades and has everything from pretty pastels (including a killer white) to brights to deep hues. There isn’t a colour in here I dislike which is unusual for me, but I have to admit I am more drawn to the pastel shades. I’m a pastel lover no matter the season! The application is supposed to be one coat and that rings true for the deeper shades but the lighter colours benefit from a second.

Next up are the Lasting Finish Colour Rush Balms, of which again I’m already a huge fan. I’ve been a fan of these since their inception last year and I love the vanilla scent and great glossy, nourishing colour payoff. There are five new shades for the Rita Ora collection but unfortunately I only have four to show you as my package was naughtily opened by Royal Mail and had a huge tear in it. It’s a shame because the missing shade (Boom Chic A Boom) looks right up my street so I will have to check it out when the collection launches in store. As you can see from the swatches below the shades are all pretty similar in the fact that they are all cool-toned pinks, with some subtle differences.

I Want Candy

Make Me Blush

All You Need is Pink

Viva Violet

I really like all of these shades and the formula is to die for, but I definitely think the last two are the most flattering on my skin tone, I think the first two would look fantastic on blondes or fairer-haired girls especially.

Overall this is a fantastic collection and with the lip balm and nail polishes priced at £6.99 and £3.69 respectively, you won’t have to shell out a lot of money to get the look.

Rita Ora for Rimmel launches nationwide from March 19th 2014.
