Estée Lauder ‘Eccentric’ Pure Color Envy Lipstick

As deep as my love for lipstick is, it’s been a while since I imagined a shade in my mind and then found it, in person, for real. It might sound trivial, but all lipstick lovers know that there’s just something about finding the exact shade you’re looking for that feels like a lottery win. I love peachy, coral shades and have a drawer full of them but the perfect hue that looked good at any time of year, day or night, with any outfit or hair colour had until now eluded me.

Most of the coral shades I have are brighter, orange-based affairs which I love but don’t work in every scenario. I’m not one to shy away from daytime brights but sometimes I just don’t want to wear them and need something a little more muted. Looking for a paler, creamier coral/peach is more difficult than it sounds when you’re dark haired – shades that would look soft and pretty on blondes can smack more of concealer lips when you have dark hair and brows. The struggle is very, very real.

Enter Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipstick in Eccentric aka my one true love. I came across this shade quite accidentally after months of swatching, browsing and failing to explain to exasperated sales assistants just what I was looking for. It was on the table over lunch with Lizzy from Estée Lauder and whilst we talked about other things and I tried to keep my focus on the food menu I couldn’t stop my eyes from darting over to it and eventually ran the risk of sounding mad when I said “sorry, do you mind if I just swatch this lipstick because I think it’s something I have been looking for for months.”

Luckily I was in the company of another makeup lover, so it was fine. I swatched away and realised this is the one! I managed to stop myself from running around the restaurant holding it up like Simba, but let’s just say I haven’t stopped wearing this lipstick since I discovered it and it’s the only one I brought away with me on holiday. It’s that good. Thankfully it’s not just the colour that’s a winner, the formula is creamy and moisturising but still has the perfect amount of ‘pull’ to it when applying that keeps it in place. It sticks around on the lips for a decent amount of time and smells gorgeous too.

I’m so happy I found exactly what I was looking for, and if you’ve been after something similar this is definitely one to try, the rest of the colour range is beautiful too and the formula is divine. My peachy coral prayers have been answered, but do you have any colours that you’re looking for and have yet to find in person? Let me know!
