Tea at Three // FP Patisserie

Right between Christmas and New Year's Day, I headed up to the Upper East Side on a rainy day for tea at three with a friend at FP Patisserie.

Do you remember the Payard patisserie/restaurant before it closed down a few years ago, in the same neighborhood? It was such a delightful place for afternoon tea. The decor was amazing and I used to love going there. Oh, memories...

Anyway, this place looks nothing like that one, although it's not really fair to compare the two places.

Walk straight to the back, past the pastry display, the little cafe/bar, and to their back room. We got a corner banquette and it was cozy; great for conversation.

I couldn't decide what pastry to get from looking at the menu, so I went to the display at the front of the shop to take a look. And this mille-feuille looked perfect.

An order of Oolong Créme from Sloane Tea and the mille-feuille, that had diced poached pears layered inside, made for an excellent tea at three.
