Reindeer Food

Today is extra special because I have two little recipes plus some fun free printables so that you can turn them into gifts this holiday season!
This time of year, I always like having sweet treats like this around the house to munch on. It's so fun to sit down with Christmas Vacation and have a little Christmas goodie to eat. I also think recipes like this make the perfect little gift to share with neighbors, co-workers, teachers and friends. Plus, this is one of those really fun activities to do in the kitchen with young kiddos!
I asked my friend Lauren (who makes fabulous party printables and such) to make me little tags for this...that way, you can make a big batch, print off the labels and you're done! So simple.
My kids helped me make our Reindeer Food (and we just named it that to be festive!)...

...and then when we were done, they asked if we could make some Reindeer Food for actual reindeer on Christmas night...so, we whipped something up really fast. That kind of reindeer food would be cute packaged as a gift too! I know my friends' kids would like to receive a bag of food to leave out for the reindeer on Christmas Eve night. You can use the same tags for both!
Aren't these tags so cute?!?! All you need to do is right click on this image, save as on your computer and then print off on normal paper (or you could replace it with heavy card stock paper). After it prints, just cut out the tags and go! Thank you Lauren!!
No matter which batch of Reindeer Food you make (or maybe you make both???), tied up in a bag with a pretty ribbon and a cute little tag and you have some really fun little gifts!
Here we go, first up, the edible Reindeer Food recipe...

Shopping List
1 bag of popped popcorn (about 4 cups total)
4 cups Rice Chex cereal
8 oz white candy coating or almond bark
1 (9 oz) bag Peppermint M&Ms
1 (9 oz) bag milk chocolate red and green M&Ms
2 cups Peppermint Crunch
Red sprinkles

Lay wax paper down over your kitchen counters to pour your Reindeer Food on.

In a large mixing bowl, combine your popcorn and Chex mix together.

In a microwavable bowl, melt your candy coating, stirring every 45 seconds. Once it's melted, quickly pour it over your popcorn mixture and toss. Working quickly, add in your M&Ms, Peppermint Crunch and sprinkles and then pour the mixture down over the wax paper to dry (about 10 minutes). Once it's dried, store in an airtight container.

And of course, you could mix and match this a million ways by adding in your favorite Christmas candy!

After we made this edible Reindeer Food, my kids wanted to make some for the actual reindeer, so we went through the pantry, grabbed what we thought a reindeer would like and then added red glitter to the finished product. So simple and fun! They can't wait to leave it out on Christmas Eve night!

We combined uncooked oatmeal, coconut, walnuts, Peppermint Crunch and red glitter in a bowl. So quick and easy and perfect to sprinkle in the front yard on Christmas Eve night. My kids were thrilled with this little mixture!

Enjoy your Reindeer Food!

Happy (Christmas) Friday!
