Morgan + David’s DIY Geek Wedding

Infusing a variety of their favorite geek inspired interests and hobbies into their wedding Morgan and David unlock a few achievements on the way to the altar. The Shattuck Golf Club located in Jaffrey, New Hampshire set the stage for Morgan and David’s wedding with its rustic interior space and majestic views of Mt. Monadnock during the ceremony.

Lots of DIY geeky touches went into their October wedding bride Morgan, who has a background in graphic design, designed the couple’s invitations and save the date cards with cute cartoon versions of themselves. All the centerpieces were completely DIY, as well, made from a frosted glass vase with an etching of a Super Mario flower. The vases were filled with a string of battery powered LED lights, and then topped off with a bouquet of silk flowers and handmade comic book paper flowers. The crafty bride even made the couple’s Star Wars cake topper both stylized to resemble Morgan and David as light saber wielding Han Solo and Princess Leia.

Their blue and yellow wedding colors inspired by Doctor Who were a nice choice for the geeky couple who chose photographer Erika Follansbee to capture every colorful moment of their big day. The perfect start, a shot of the bride in her dress from 125 Bridal Boutique accessorized with Tardis blue shoes and a Hammer of Thor bracelet. The couple also incorporated their wedding colors into their 8-bit gamer themed wedding cake featuring pixel squares cascading around the side and their favor boxes filled with either a dark chocolate and coconut Dalek or a milk chocolate Millennium Falcon with a peanut butter Oreo inside. Yum!

I just can’t get enough of their amazing aisle runner made by Morgan’s aunt with their names entwined with Xbox controllers and a triumphant Achievement Unlocked: Gettin’ hitched! ”The highlight of the reception,” says Erika, “was a Tardis Photobooth that Dave and his friends designed and built out of PVC pipe and blue fabric. The camera inside was on a timer, and shot 4 photos in sequence after the start button was pressed. The resulting photostrip printed out on a table next to the booth in duplicate, so that you could cut the strip apart and deposit one into a box for the bride and groom, and keep the other one as a souvenier.”
