RMS Beauty Cream Eye Shadows in Solar + Lunar

I’m really excited to finally be able to chime in my thoughts on these two lovely cream eye shadows by RMS Beauty!

As I’m a big fan of RMS Beauty since I tried their amazing Un-Cover Up last summer, I knew I wanted to try more of their products and these shadows looked lovely! I’ve been testing them out for ages and ages since early Spring so I’ve had quite a bit of time to test them out in different ways for efficacy, consistency and wear time. I originally picked them up at Beautyhabit and have seriously been loving these for light makeup days, highlighting my eyes and brow bone, and even using them as base colors for other eye shadows.

RMS Cream Eye Shadow in Lunar

Lunar might look like the color is really similar to Solar, but it’s actually not. Think of Lunar as moonlight and Solar as sunlight because that’s the difference. Lunar looks more like a pearlescent shimmery off-white nude type color. It works really well for me as a highlight in areas I don’t really want it to show that I’m wearing any kind of color, but want a bit of brightening effect. Obviously, I’m quite fair so if you’re more tan than me, this will show up a lot more on you. That being said, Solar might be a good option for subtle highlighting. I enjoy using Lunar on my brow bone (above and below brows), inner corners near the tear duct to brighten up my eyes, and even on cheek bones as a highlighter if I’m not wearing anything else or trying to keep my makeup light for the day. I don’t have the Living Luminizer yet so this is a nice substitute until I can pick that one up.

RMS Cream Eye Shadow in Solar

Solar is probably my favorite of the two. While I love Lunar for subtle highlighting, Solar is SO beautiful on the lids! It’s really lovely for summer bronzed makeup looks and its a great base for other neutral colors. It just gives everything a wonderful depth and helps colors last longer. I really enjoy using this as a subtle bronzer on cheeks, on my eyes as a stand alone shadow or a base for other colors, and on inner corners if I want my eyes to really pop. On their own, these cream shadows last only a few hours, maybe less if it’s extremely hot out or if you have really oily lids (which I do). They last longer when used with other eye shadows or set with a setting powder. I love that these cream shadows are so simply made with organic plant ingredients and natural mica powders. They don’t irritate my eyes in any way, even if some product gets in them, which is something I really appreciate as I tend to be super sensitive.

Swatches

(Top color is Lunar / Bottom color is Solar)

In the swatch photo, you can see that Lunar is a LOT lighter than Solar when you really slap on a thick amount of the product. Obviously, you can play these colors up even more or play them down and make them a lot more subtle if you like. I just wanted to show the true colors and this is in crappy bathroom lighting so they may appear more shimmery and reflective in the daylight.

Overall, I really love these cream eye shadows!

They’re a ton of fun to use in many different ways, they’re organically formulated with simple plant ingredients that nourish my skin and are safe near my sensitive eyes, and only a little product is needed for a lot of color payoff despite the fact that they are green beauty products and come in surprisingly small jars. These are really decently priced for how long they actually last. It will take me quite a long time to hit pan on them so that definitely adds a lot of value for me.
