The Old Barn - Exterior Progress

Hello. Big case of blog neglect from me, I do apologise. Especially to my lovely friends in Singapore, one of whom has let it be known he has a short-cut on his phone to get the latest nest egg news. So thank you for the nudge; here you go :)
It's been over a month and a lot has and hasn't happened. I didn't realise on these kind of projects that weeks go by and some things don't develop or progress at all. And it's simply because you can only do one thing at a time really. So, I've started lots of jobs but I haven't finished any. The shame. Strictly speaking I like a before, during and after. I'm not mad about the during stage because it does go on a bit. However, if I wait until it's all perfect, well, we could be here a while.
So, progress report on the barn exterior - maybe 75% of the work has been done. There is still a bit more painting, fixing, details to add, but it's almost there.
Here is the customary "before" shot...

And next we have some progress (yay!)

The start of progress, although it actually looks worse doesn't it? But, the bars on the window have been removed (surprisingly tricky) and the top glass panels secured with gaffer tape (temporary). Most of the area in front of the barn has been weeded.

The timber cladding replaced to left hand side and most of the pots cleared away.

Me breaking down the rotten water butt. It took so long Mum had time to go into the cottage, grab my iphone, listen to my garbled instructions of how to turn it on and take a picture (at least 10 minutes). I couldn't use the sledgehammer to smash it as my shoulder was hurting (from using the sledgehammer the day before).

Our lovely roofer fitting the velux skylight on the other side of the roof and sorting out the ridge tiles. He also replaced the pointless glass tiles while he was there. More cladding panels replaced to the right.

The barn has been painted, glass roof tiles replaced and the ridge tiles are all sorted out too. Also, the trough has had a little update. I used Annie Sloan duck egg mixed with Old White and used clear wax to seal it. I think it will weather over the winter months but hopefully it will survive. I moved it into position myself using a rope which was a major achievement as it weighs at least a ton.

The front door has been touched up and also the door to the patio garden has been painted. I'm not 100% decided on the colour though, and may still paint the barn door the same colour. I used the bitcumen barn paint on the door which I think was an error. It's made of different wood and doesn't have to same absorbency as the timber cladding. The net result is that it's gone very black and a bit tacky. But for now, it will do.
