Cult Favourites: Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentrè & Clarins Beauty Flash Balm

Cult beauty items don’t always deliver exactly what we hope they do. I suppose this has a lot to do with skin/hair type and expectations. So I always approach a cult favourite with caution. Such caution was not necessary with Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentrè & Clarins Beauty Flash Balm.

I’ve loved Clarins Beauty Flash Balm forever. It’s one of those things I get, love, use up, then forget about because, ALL OF THE OTHER BEAUTY THINGS. I recently revisited Beauty Flash Balm. I’ve been tired and this never ending season has my skin feeling dull. From Clarins website:

The ultimate pick-me-up for tired, stressed skin—Clarins best-selling radiance maker helps eliminate signs of fatigue in a flash! Instantly moisturizes, brightens and tightens facial contours so skin looks rested and relaxed. Olive and Witch Hazel extracts help smooth the skin’s surface, diffusing the look of lines and wrinkles. Soothing Bisabolol helps restore skin’s youthful glow. Preps skin for perfect make-up application and hours of luminous wear.

That pretty much says it all. It does what it promises, it feels wonderful, and smells wonderful. It feels like simple yet luxurious skincare, and using it is like a mini spa treatment at home. The texture is rich, creamy and almost whipped. I have a sample size that I keep in my purse so I can dab a small amount all over my face at any time of day. It is an instant brightener. Love it. At around $50 CAN for a 50ml tube, it isn’t cheap. But a little goes a long way, and I recommend using only a small amount for best results.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentrè is another beauty potion that promises to add radiance to the skin while helping our make up look better. It has this rich melty texture and feels like a potent moisturizer. It is almost “oily” but don’t be afraid of the oil. Again, it sort of defies definition. While it may appear oily, it manages to impart just a glow to the skin while locking in healing moisture. Even on my oily and sensitive skin. I’ve been testing it for weeks with no reactions other than a healthy glow. It has a soft almost imperceptible scent that dissipates quickly. But it’s magic lies in the perfect canvas it leaves on the skin for make up. From the website:

24-Hour Miracle Cream The must have product for makeup artists, models and celebrities. A cult favorite that has found its way onto countless photo shoots, television and film sets internationally. This creamy lotion is three products in one: primer, moisturizer, and make-up remover. Its formula remains extremely simple and effective with nourishing ingredients that restores the skin’s natural glow and gives a boost to tired dehydrated skin.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentrè has the added cachet of being one of those “impossible to find unless you shop in France” products. You know, the kind Gwynnie would flog on the “French Pharmacy” page of GOOP. Happily, Embryolisse is now available to the great unwashed. I’ve even seen it at Urban Outfitters! I bought mine at a fab sale on Hautelook, but the cost of $28 for around 76ml is actually pretty reasonable. It is highly concentrated, as the name suggests, and a tube will last ages.
