World Book Day

Happy World Book Day!
Today the kids at Orlaith's nursery were all asked to go in an outfit based on a book character. My first idea was to try to make a little red riding hood cape with my new sewing machine, but that didn't happen. Then I thought I would paint her green and send her in as The Hulk, but I didn't find any green body paint ! Then this morning we decided at the last minute she would go as a dalmation, which was Orlaith's idea. So of course we based the character on the book 101 Dalmations.
I got some white legging and a white top (that are usually used for messy play) and painted black dots on them using watercolour paints. After getting her dressed, I painted Orlaith's face using a mixture of some face paints I bought that morning and water colours. I then tied her hair up in two high bunches to look like dog ears. It was pretty simple and took about an hour to create the look.

By the time she left nursery the paint on her face had faded a bit and she was so hyper she wouldn't stand still for any pictures, but I didn't mind because she was in the best of moods.
Our afternoon activity will be writing and illustrating a book together. And hopefully my night time activity will be finishing my current read with my feet up. What are you currently reading?
