Lately, I’ve been drawn to the idea of bold color in the kitchen – specifically in primary tones of red, blue and yellow. But I’m not talking cabinets or wall paint – I’m talking vintage modern accessories mixed with farmhouse style. Think mod pop art, enamelware canisters, schoolhouse clocks and powder-coated industrial stools…
In a super warm space, jolts of color lend a bit of whimsy, like the pear and apple art in this dining room nook and kitchen. I love the vintage and industrial influences here, but it’s a bit too subdued for me…
In an entirely different direction – this space has mod written all over it – but I’m not sure I could live with such loud color! I do love that the accessories are all white here though… but there’s got to be a happy medium…
And then Goldilocks found her just right with a mesh of yellow and barn wood! This is what I’m talking about – the warmth of something a little more rustic feeling, but with that pop of color! What do you think? Are you ready to have a little fun in the kitchen?
1. octopus chandelier in blue // 2. kohler brockway basin sink // 3. color wall sconces // 4. stainless steel canisters // 5. pear print and apple print // 6. red rimmed round mirror // 7. le creuset french oven // 8. yellow industrial stool
Here’s how I’d do it! In fact, I might not even use all of these elements, but a select few to mix in with an existing kitchen is a good start, right? I’ve actually got a small pendant with a burst of blue above my own countertops right now, and I’m debating yellow stools…
Here are a few more ways to get the look:
