It’s a Jungle Out There

On Friday at 4pm Fred Baby texted me from the next room (he was stuck on a conference call) and asked if I wanted to go to New York with him.

My best friend since 8th grade (we met at the bus stop on the first day of school) had a baby girl a few months ago and I’d been dying to get to New York to meet her. The hitch? We’d be leaving on Saturday! After rearranging a few things, I texted back YES and 24 hours later we were on a flight to the place we used to call home.

We spent all day yesterday gallivanting around the city: meeting up with friends in Madison Square Park for Shake Shack and an outdoor screening of the World Cup (random side note: Anthony Weiner chatted my friend and me up — eew!), walking across the Brooklyn Bridge (magical), walking down memory lane in our old NoHo neighborhood, and drinking blood orange margaritas at the hidden underground restaurant La Esquina, whose entrance is through a takeout taco stand, down a flight of stairs and through the kitchen (#onlyinnewyork). It’s good to be back.
