L’oréal’s Rouge Caresse Lipstick vs Revlon’s Lip Butter

Now I’m a HUGE fan of the Revlon Lip Butters, so when I heard about L’oréal’s Rouge Caresse Lipstick being a contender against my tried and tested Lip Butters I had to see for myself. I initially purchased only one shade as a trial run retailing at £7.99.

I decided on colour 103 – Sweet Berry, which is a sheer Nude Pink (I would compare this colour with Pink Truffle from the Revlon Lip Butters).The packaging is lovely and sleek, looking similar to a YSL lipstick.

Oh my goodness, the texture of the L’oréal Lipstick is probably the most velvety, smooth, moisturising Lipstick I have ever come across. It truly wins hands down against Revlon in terms of FEEL and MOISTURISATION, pulling off into the lead in this round. But unfortunately I’m afraid that’s about it, I really wanted to love this product but was let down by the Colour Pay-Off and Longevity putting Revlon points ahead.

Firstly a point I should mention is the L’oréal Rouge Caresse Lipstick give an extremely Sheer coverage, even when adding layers it still offers a sheer appearance which is flattering but nothing to write home about. Once you eat or have something to drink the colour is gone. If you’re looking for a sheer moisturising lip balm with a slight tint this lipstick provides exactly that. However, for me this lipstick did not offer enough pigmentation. Second Point is longevity, disappointingly this lipstick only lasted 1.5hr on me (without eating or drinking!!) which was a huge let down because I was impressed on how amazingly light and moisturing it felt on the lips, but when it barely lasts less than a quarter of the day it doesn’t seem worth investing in. So in the rounds of PIGMENTATION and LONGEVITY, the Revlon Lip Butters pull ahead in first place.

Verdict

When it comes to the battle between L’oréal’s Rouge Caresse Lipstick and the Revlon Lip Butters, for me the Revlon Lip Butters win this fight.

Winner – Revlon Lip Butters

The Revlon Lip Butters offer a better colour range selection (in the UK L’oréal Rouge Caresse is available in 13 shades (unfortunately most of them look very similar to each other once swatched); Revlon Lip Butters in 14 shades), with the Revlon Lip Butter providing stronger pigmentation which lasts much longer on the lips.
