& Other Stories Nail Colours & Tools

There’s somethng about & Other Stories that just sucks me right in, I don’t think I’m actually able to walk past without a purchase. I recently popped into the Regent Street store to have a browse (and ended up finding ideal gifts for all my favourite girls in my wedding party) and whilst I was there casually added a few beauty/nail bits to the shopping basket. To mixed results…

I picked up a couple of nail care/nail tools, plus of course a couple of nail colours – can’t resist. One pale green, and a cornflower blue. Both looked gorgeous in the bottle and on the nail… well, the blue is still gorgeous. But where on earth did the pretty pale mint green go?! It goes to a totally sheer, pearly tone that just vanishes on the nail. Not so great, maybe would work as a shimmer top coat or just a super sheer shade, if that’s your thing. But for me, the cornflower blue is the winner here (and a gorgeous one at that).

Then, whilst I was in nail-spree mode I also picked up a rubber cuticle tool – which I’ve been loving as it’s the perfect balance between firm and gentle. Firm enough to push cuticles back, but gentle enough not to hurt or scratch the nail at all. The, to top off my cuticle obsession I picked up a little tube of ‘Cuticle Saviour’ – how could I not with a name like that!? I have notoriously dry cuticles, and so this was basically an essential. It’s a hard to describe texture though – partly oil partly liquid. Really amazing for a quick fix for dry, tatty cuticles. A new desk essential.

Overall – three out of four purchases are fabulous But unless you like sheer shades, I’d skip Alcantara Green!
