It all starts with the dress: House of Fraser Competition

Being a professional blogger/working for yourself does mean you miss out on one of the most fun parts of being in an office – the annual office Christmas party. I remember when I was a teen and would read magazines that talked about all these glam dresses for Christmas and at the time, being a teenager where the most exciting event of the year was a school disco I didn’t really get this idea of needing amazing outfits for Christmas…it was always more about comfy PJs for me for the festive season. But working in an office does bring some fun parties – my old workplace threw some amazing ones. From glam locations, to extravagant ones that took over the actual office. The Christmas party was always a good one – and always a great excuse to dress up. Last year I got myself a sparkly gold dress and loved it. This year, it’s not quite as acceptable to dress in sparkles and have a festive tipple when you are your only colleague… so until then I will be living vicariously through this little video from House of Fraser – a re-imagining of a classic fairytale (although I’m pretty sure Cinders never did the walk of shame…). 1: The Sparkly Dress – Personally, I tend to like a dress that covers the arms. Would always rather get my legs out and keep my arms covered. This is ideal – it’s classic and black, a nice bit of sparkle.

2. The burgundy jumpsuit – Ok, so this is slightly fantasy for me as being a shortie, it’s pretty much impossible to find a jumpsuit that isn’t miles too long. But love the idea of this instead of the classic dress. Plus it’s a bit more covered so well worth dialling up the shoes with…

3: A touch of lace – Again, leaning towards the arm covering (also a plus when nippy outside). Lace is always a classic touch and I love a skater style dress. An easy to wear one and perfect if your Christmas party might mean a meal too…hides a food baby perfectly.

4. Fancy black heels – Who said black shoes had to be boring? With a sparkly dress you might want to keep the colour or sparkle turned down a tad to let the dress shine, so these are an ideal match for dress number 1 as they’re interesting without stealing the show. Plus will go with loads so a good investment (girly maths there).

5. Chunky platforms with sparkle – Christmas is the time to sparkle as much as possible. I love these as they’re just really fun. Sure, the heel is high – but so is the platform. Nice and leg lengthening with the jumpsuit…plus the gold sparkle against the burgundy will look fab.

6. Animal print heels – If you want to go all black for the dress, then adding a pop of colour or pattern with the shoes can be fun. I’m always a bit of a sucker for animal print so loved these on first sight.
