Bobbi Brown Scotch on the Rocks

Here we go with Bobbi Brown hitting it out of the park with another lust-worthy collection yet again. Balancing just the right mix of neutrals and wearables with some deeper shades that are just perfect for Christmas. This collection is one I’ve been itching to write about but I’ve been changing over the sort of lighting and it’s had to wait a little longer than I wanted but now lighting is sorted – this lot of gorgeousness is top of my list to talk about. This is the Bobbi Brown Scotch on the Rocks collection. And it’s stunning.

The full collection comprises of three nail shades (a deep red, a gold and a bright red), four lip shades (a bright red, a deep red, a bronze/gold and a champagne gold), three lipglosses (a pale pinky shimmer, a bright red and a deep red), a limited edition long wear gel liner, to highlighters (the rose gold & white here and a golden shade) plus the hero piece of the nine shadow palette. I have to say, when I opened the envelope with these lovely bits in I did actually squeal just a little (a lot) as the shades are just beautiful. The palette is the read stand out but for me I also really love the gloss and the dark nail varnish. I’ve spoken before about my love of Bobbi Brown nail varnish – I know it’s not always the product they’re best known for, but I’ve always been totally wow’ed by the quality so definitely recommend picking one up. This shade Bordeaux is a total classic too.

Then for lips we have the gloss – Bellini. A high shimmer lipgloss (as opposed to the gold from the collection that’s glitter). This is a gorgeous easy to wear shade. The shimmer is subtle – and the pinky gold shade is really flattering. Then the two lipsticks – I love the dark burgundy shade (Bordeaux to match the nails) as whilst I’ve work it around the house I haven’t quite got the guts to wear it out yet. If I had a Christmas party to go to I totally would though. Then there’s the interesting Malt Shimmer – a sort of bronze/gold shade that’s shimmer packed and definitely one you need your lips in tip-top condition to pull off. For me, this isn’t usually the case so for the look below I opted for a touch of the gloss!

Then of course there are the two compacts – the palette and the highlighter. The highlighter for a start is the shade pink glow and is a blend of a soft rose gold/pinky shade, blended with a white. The white I find does deliver quite a strong highlight so just went for a little of the pinky side to highlight the tops of my cheeks.

Finally on to to eyeshadow palette. Now this is a beauty. Nine shades of gorgeous colours with mostly shimmers, but three matte shades in there too. It’s a very versatile palette. The mattes could easily be used for daytime definition, then add some shimmer to dial it up at night. For the above look I used mainly the two shades on the bottom left of the palette (the brown shimmer and the peachy shimmer just above it) as I do like orange-toned shades with blue eyes. Plus a touch of the yellowy-gold shimmer on the inner eyes and some of the champagne shimmer to highlight just under the brow. Plus a touch of the gloss and this was the make-up I wore for a lovely dinner out at the Charlotte Street hotel. I was tempted to go with the dark lip but figured eating and dark lipstick really don’t blend all that well. So the gloss is easy to touch up with no fuss.

I adore this collection – as I pretty much always do with Bobbi Brown. They really are the neutral lovers make-up dream.

What do you think of it – any products stand out? p.s. definitely try the nail varnishes as I said above – not kidding, they’re amazing.
