KBShimmer Spring 2014 Collection Swatches & Review

press sample
Hi guys! Today I have KBShimmer's Spring 2014 Collection for ya! This collection is split up into 2 parts, the glitter & holos and the cremes! This is the first time KBShimmer has offered cremes and I gotta say, I was pretty darn excited about them before I even saw them. I love when indies release cremes since they typically work hard to perfect the formulas and it makes applying them a breeze! As a whole KBShimmer has is 16 polishes in total for us this Spring, 8 cremes, 1 glitter topper, a holo, a holo top coat and 4 crelly glitter. This collection is balanced really nicely with a good mix of spring shades along with great basic cremes that are gorgeous on their own and as base for pretty much any glitter! Check out all the swatches after the jump!

A Touch of Glass is a minty aqua creme. There is a very very slight shimmer in this one but it's barely visible on the nail and most likely there more for the sake of making the application good as opposed to actually being shimmery. The formula was good, there was some minor streakyness on the first coat but it was easily covered with the second coat. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Belle of the Mall is a coral jelly packed with holographic silver hex glitter in various sizes. If you are a fan of KBShimmer's I Got A Crush On Blue or Green Hex and Glam then this is right up your alley. It's very similar in finish and appearance. The formula was good, it is a touch sheer but it builds up to being opaque easily in 3 coats, you could also layer this over a coral creme. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Chick Me Out is a bright yellow creme. This was the creme I was most excited about trying, I'm forever in search of a perfect yellow! The formula of this one was pretty darn good for a shade like this. There was some streakyness but it was pretty minor and the opacity was good. I used 3 coats to completely even it out but you could probably get away with 2 if you're careful while applying it.

Daisy About You is a pale green crelly with neon green hex glitter, lavender hex glitter and lavender flower glitter. I love the fun flower shaped glitter in this, initially I didn't realize it was in there until a piece appeared on the nail. If you want a lot of the flower glitter you might need to fish a bit bu I didn't have any issues getting a couple onto the nail. The formula was good, it was a touch sheer but it built easily. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Eclipse is a black creme. This is of course a polish I'll be getting a ton of use out of, there are few glitters that don't look great over a black base! The formula was good, it could be a 1 coater depending on how you polish, it almost was for me! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Full Bloom Ahead is a white crelly with multicolored hex glitter in various sizes. The colors in here are fuchsia, navy, teal, gold and orange. The formula was good, it was a little sheer but easy to build, you could also layer it over white if you wanted to. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

Honeydew List is a muted pastel green. This is slightly dusty which make it different than a lot of the other pastel green cremes I have. The formula was great, it was nice and opaque and I had no issues with it being streaky. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Laugh Myself Lily is a light blue/green crelly with holographic hex pink, silver, lavender and blue glitter along with aqua circle glitter. Depending on your skin tone and the light you're in this can lean a bit more towards green than it does on me, I noticed it leaning green in lower shade lighting. The formula was good, it's a little sheer but it builds easily. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Life Rose On is a bright rosy pink creme. This is Christy's perfect pink, I can see why! This is one of those pinks that will look great on anyone no matter what the skin tone is. The formula was perfection, it was the perfect consistency and super opaque...nearly a 1 coater! This was the first polish from the collection I put on and it totally blew my mind in terms of formula! I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Make My Gray is a very pale gray crelly with turquoise, gunmetal, aqua and coral glitter in various shapes and sizes. This is great on its own but it would look good over My Life's Porpoise also, I think that would make the gray base more obvious. The formula was good, it was a little sheer but it build easily. It can be a little chunky due to the amount of glitter but it gave me no issues while applying it. I did need 2 coats of top coat to smooth this one out completely! I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade

My Life's Porpoise is a light grey creme. This is a night neutral grey, it doesn't lean too blue and it would be good undies for most glitters! The formula was great, it was a good consistency and the opacity was great.

Pansy-Monium is a medium purple creme. This is another great basic, the formula was really nice. It was easy to apply and the opacity was good. I used 2 coats for the photos below.

Prism Break is a holo top coat. You can put this over anything to make it all rainbow-y and awesome. I used 2 coats over Pansy-Monium for max holo goodness!

Quick and Flirty is a dark purple holo. The holo was crazy strong in this, even stronger than it looks in person. The formula was good, it was a little sheer but it built up easily to full opacity. I used 3 coats for the photos below.

Rush Flower Traffic is fuchsia, gold, green, sapphire and aqua hex and circle glitter in a clear base. This will look good over pretty much anything, I tried it over several of the cremes when I was picking out a combo for this post and it really did look good over everything. The formula was good, it was very glitter dense and not thick at all. I used 1 coat over Life Rose On for the photos below.

Lighting: Shade
Sky Jinks bright blue creme. This has a little bit of dustiness to it but it's still pretty bright! The formula was great, it was the perfect consistency and super opaque. This could easily be a 1 coater, I used 2 out of habit but the 2nd really wasn't needed.

The Spring 2014 Collection from KBShimmer will be available starting on March 14th at KBShimmer.com, for international ladies you can find these at HarlowandCo.org! The glitters and holos retail for $8.75 a bottle and the cremes are $7.50!
