Makeup Monday: Beauty oils I love

Growing up with oily skin, I steered clear of oil-based products for years. Then something switched.

Everyone started talking about oils and how good they were for your skin. How oils actually worked with your skin to calm it, and regulate oil production. I still was dubious but had to give it a try. I was dying to know what the fuss was about!

My first foray into oils was with rosehip oil as a night time moisturiser. I was too scared to try it in the day in case my shiny face got out of control. Within a week I was hooked. You only need to use a couple of drops and massage it into cleansed skin and you’ll wake up glowing. I use Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant .

You can take that massage one step further and really boost your skincare with an oil. Nichola Joss, facialist to the stars, recommends massage to all her clients and you can do it at home. I use Sanctuary Spa Therapist’s Secret Facial Oil and Nichola’s suggested massage tips are in the box. I don’t do this everyday but I wish I remembered to.

I also use an oil for cleansing my skin. I do a double cleanse, first with Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, then I use Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel. The key to oil cleaners is to use them on dry skin and gently massage to emulsify the oil.

Oils aren’t only good for your face. Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse is my multi use dry oil. I use this on my body and my hair. I always pack this when travelling as it’s such a useful product.
