Currently Obsessed: B L O C K Heels

If you don't know, now you know. Block heels are back and better than ever! If you're like me and grew up religiously watching Beverly Hills 90210, as with all cycles of fashion, you may be a little resistant to the revival of this chunky trend because it probably reminds you of the infamous white chunky platform sandal. For most, we shutter to think of those haphazardly misguided grunge days. But rest assure, this go around, it's much sexier and sportier, even in low sandal form. While there are many genres of the block heel (boots, platforms, pumps, etc), here's my take on what today's perfect block heel should encompass.

Today's block heel…
Should not be tapered or it's not a true block heel
Nor should it flare out at the sole of the heel.
It should continue in a straight perpendicular line from the base of your heel to the floor.
And, in my personal opinion, it should not have a platform front. Otherwise, you've literally gone back to the 90's version.

Eeww! Look at my feet!, I promise they're not really this dark.
So here's my new Kelsi Dagger Blanca lover in all it's chunky block heel glory. See? More sporty, less…. err, Brenda Walsh? I attribute the updated vibe to the contrast black trim and the absence of a platform front. I paired it with my favorite Seven For All Mankind Josefina Boyfriend jean for a casual day of errands. The top? Another Phistyle poshmark find!
