Bottle Lid Rudolph Ornament - One Artsy Mama | "Lines Across"

Hey, friends! In case we haven't met, I'm Amy, aka One Artsy Mama, and I'm thrilled to be here today to share a quick little project with you as part of Rachel's fun Handmade Christmas Ornament series! Take a look!

Before I show you how to make these, I thought I'd show you where the idea came from...I have a LOT of these in my house. If you are at all familiar with my blog, you know I have a teeny little addiction to a certain Seattle-based coffee company. Every day, I'm throwing these lids away and it occurred to me that I ought to be able to do something with them! I mean, I'm the artsy mama, right?

So, I decided to turn trash into treasure by creating a cute little reindeer ornament using a bunch of things I already had in my stash! Here's what you need {I bet you already have most of these things too}.
Materials: - bottle lid - brown fabric {felt would work too} - google eyes - red pom pom - brown pipe cleaner - twine or ribbon - scissors - hot glue gun and glue sticks {I highly recommend low temp}
Step 1: Wrap your fabric around the lid and glue. Pull it as tightly as you can. This part is why I highly recommend low temp glue, because I totally got some on my fingers while trying to stick the fabric down.

Step 2: Create antlers using a pipecleaner. Bend a pipe cleaner into the shape you want and trim off the extra. Then, glue it to the back of the lid. Cut the remaining piece in half and twist one half around each antler {see the one on the left}.

Step 3: Add eyes, nose, and twine.

Step 4: Glue a felt or fabric circle to the back to cover up the mess!

Easy peasy! A fun and simple ornament that costs practically nothing and reuses something I was going to throw away! I'd say that's a win!

Now, the most fun part is going to be giving it to my Little Crafter when he gets home from school! He LOVES putting things on the tree!
