Make a Triangle Stamp from a Pencil Eraser

I've been wanting to try doing some kind of pencil eraser stamps ever since I posted this collection of DIY stamps 2 years ago (wow, how has it possibly been so long!?). This is my favorite kind of craft - free, fast, and full of possibilities. For this project, I decided to make just one triangle stamp, use only a black ink pad and plain white paper, and see what kinds of things I could come up with. I ended out having a ridiculous amount of fun and playing with this one little stamp for a couple of hours.

How to make your stamp:

1. Pick out a pencil with a flat eraser that hasn't been used.
2. Sketch out your shape on the eraser with pencil.
3. Use an X-Acto knife or box cutter to cut along the lines, and then to cut along the sides to remove the extra pieces of eraser.

Play around with this simple triangle. See what kinds of fun patterns you can create. Make words, spell out your name, see if you can make shapes that look like animals. It's like doodling with a stamp, and it ends out looking really cool. I especially loved creating some geometric animals. Some were definitely a challenge (and maybe even a little difficult to identify), but they are really fun. I'm planning on enlarging a few of the animals and printing them on cardstock as high contrast pictures for my 3 month old son to look at.
