What I ate yesterday + workout goals.

Hello my friendssss. Yesterday we had our first taste of fall weather in Houston. 68 degrees never felt so good!

My day started with an upper body workout. I’m trying to set some fitness goals for myself. I wanna be able to bench press 115 lbs by the end of October. Right now I can bench 85 lbs. I could probably do more if I did my one rep max, but I haven’t done that in awhile. Andrew is so into power lifting now that I figure I should be into it to. It’s a great way to spend time together in the evenings. I like lifting weights, I’ve just never taken it very seriously. I’d rather go run 4 miles or do a fun circuit workout than squat/deadlift/bench heavy weight. I started thinking about it and realized I’ve been squatting the same weight (115-135 lbs) for the last four years. I think it’s time to work on upping the weight.

After my workout I came home and made the perfect fall breakfast. I had a warm pumpkin baked oatmeal topped with almond butter and served with an iced chai tea latte made with 2% milk.

The pumpkin baked oatmeal only serves one. To make it I preheated the oven to 375F. In a bowl I combined 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats, 1/3 cup mashed banana, 3 tablespoons pumpkin puree, several dashes of cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla and a pinch of salt. I scooped the oatmeal batter into a 16-ounce ramekin and baked it for 20-25 minutes.

I had been craving breakfast burritos for a while now. So I bought some whole wheat tortillas at the grocery store this weekemd and have had breakfast burritos for lunch the last two days. This one had 2 scrambled egg, spoonful of salsa, big handful spinach, a bunch of cilantro, dash chili powder and some extra sharp white cheddar. My normal grocery store (HEB) doesn’t sell Cabot anymore…lame. I’ll have to make a special grocery trip to another store to stock up on some Cabot cheese.

Around 2 pm I was getting hungry so I had some chobani yogurt topped with strawberries & Kashi cereal. I got the Kashi cereal for free at Blog Brulee! Kashi is coming out with a granola soon and I’m PUMPED!

Dinner wasn’t until 7:30 so I had another snack of pretzels & hummus around 5pm.

Yesterday was my little sister’s 18th birthday so we had a family dinner at my parent’s house. Per my sister’s request, my dad grilled up some burgers for dinner. We had them on the fluffiest, most delicious whole wheat buns with lettuce sharp cheddar tomatoes ketchup. Served with a small side of roasted potatoes.

For the birthday dessert I brought cupcakes from Crave. It’s not a birthday unless you blow out candles and you can’t blow out candles without something delicious to stick the candle in<
