Don’t Miss Out: 70,000 Points, One Day Left

I receive compensation for many links on this blog. You don’t have to use these links, but I am grateful to you if you do. American Express, Citibank, Chase, and other banks are advertising partners of this site. I do not write about all credit cards that are available — instead focusing on miles, points, and cash back (and currencies that can be converted into the same).

Chase Ink Plus® Business Card

The Ink Plus Business Card is being offered with a 70,000 point signup bonus after $5000 spend within three months. That’s 20,000 points (40%!) more than the standard offer, and it’s the biggest offer for the card online, ever, and the single best card offer currently in the market period.

Indeed, this is one of the best rewards credit card offers I’ve ever seen.

  • Maybe the American Airlines Executive card 100,000 mile bonus was better, but that required $10,000 in spending, earned miles in a single airline program (rather than points that could be transferred to several programs), and had a $450 annual fee (offset by $200 statement credit).
  • Arguably the 100,000 mile bonus for the free the first year American card was better years ago, but again a much higher spend requirement and non-transferrable points.

And the card offer ends tomorrow.

Just How Good is This Offer?

This card has a $95 fee, well worth it in my view for the points — and this is the card that accumulates points faster than any other I’ve had because it earns:

  • 5 points per dollar at office supply stores and on telecommunications (cable/satellite tv, internet, cell phone)
  • 2 points per dollar on gas and hotels
  • With no foreign currency transaction fees

And these points you earn are among the most valuable out there, since they transfer one-to-one into:

  • Airlines: United Airlines, British Airways, Korean Air, Virgin Atlantic, Southwest Airlines, Singapore Airlines
  • Hotels: Hyatt, Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, IHG Rewards Club (
  • Ground: Amtrak

Here are 10 Great Things You Can Do With Your Chase Points.

When the card offered 60,000 points in June 2013 and May 2014 this was the most popular offer I’ve ever posted to the blog, judging from the number of people clicking on the links. That’s because this is probably the best points-earning card out there, because the points are hugely valuable, and because those were the best offers ever broadly available online for the cards.

There was a period earlier in the year where many Chase branches had 70,000 point offers; you had to go into the branch (like that offer, the annual fee applies in the first year). I didn’t jump then, because there wasn’t a branch within 100 miles of my home. Now the 70,000 point offers are available online for anyone to use, for one day.

Other Benefits of the Card Not to Miss

The card comes with lounge access — a Lounge Club membership with two free visits per year at participating lounges around the world.

You can register the card for Visa Savings Edge which gets you automatic rebates at places like 5% back at several hotel brands; 4% at National Car Rental and Alamo; 1% back at Chevron, Texaco; 5% back from Lenovo; 2% back from TigerDirect; 1% back at Red Robin.

You Should Probably Consider Getting a Small Business Credit Card

I find it very useful to have a business credit card, and have for a long time – I got my first one about a decade ago, giving my social security number as a business tax ID (as a sole proprietorship). Before I had my award booking business I would use my social security number. Most of the time back then (much more so than now) I would be approved instantly, or at least automatically.

Even when you don’t yet have business income it is often fine, it’s good to separate out business and personal expenses from the very beginning when starting to look out for business opportunities.

It’s much easier to deduct the expenses for a business when the financial transactions for that business are kept separate from personal finances. So just as it’s useful to have a business bank account, it’s useful to have a business credit card. And that’s true even — and especially — before you have any revenue for the business. Keeping things separate from the start is a great reason to have a business credit card. If you’re not approved automatically, you can still explain that you haven’t earned income from the business yet, you’re just now setting it up.

A Great Offer to Jump On
