Sinful Colors Silk + Satin Collection - swatches and review

(pr sample)

Last month Sinful Colors released a new collection named Silk Satin, six fun shades with a demi-matte texture. I received the complete collection for review and swatching, and to be honest, I'm not much of a fan of Sinful Colors polishes. All the shades I've purchased in the past had inconsistent formulas, some are amazing and easy to apply, some are runny and others are super thick. While this collection has a similar quality, there are a few shades that I have completely fallen for!

I LOVE the demi-matte finish they did with this collection, they all have a smooth finish, even out nicely and the texture looks so perfect that I kept saying my nails looked like plastic when I was wearing these shades around the house last month - like plastic perfect! ;) I swatched all the shades without and with top coat, but I must warn you, if you go sans-top coat, these polished will chip in a day or two, especially if you do household chores like laundry, washing dishes, cleaning the bathroom, putting Ikea furniture together, etc.

Solar Flux - "a sublte touch of yellow" this is a light yellow creme, needed three coats for an even coverage. I'm not very happy with this formula, it was very runny and very messy to apply, it seems to escape the control of the brush and completely flood the cuticles. I'm a little torn on the shade - I like this tone of yellow, but I don't like the chalky look it has.

Prime Purple - "a delicate dose of lilac" this is a pretty lavender creme, extremely sheer and streaky, I had to do four coats to get an even coverage. This formula is runny as well, just as messy as Solar Flux. BUT I love the shade!! It's so soft and pretty, I've worn it twice already, which is very out of my norm because I'm not much of a purple polish person.

Pipaya - "a soft flash of coral" this is a rich red coral creme, perfect formula, easy one-coat coverage. This is one of my favorites in the collection, the application was very easy to control and the formula dried more matte than all the other shades. I especially LOVE it with a glossy top coat, so retro chic <3

Real Teal - "a quiet mermaid green" this is a teal shimmer, very lovely formula, packed with shimmer, two coats gives complete coverage. This is another favorite of mine from the collection, the shimmer is absolutely gorgeous in person, it's very reflective even with the demi-matte finish. With a top coat it shines and glistens even more, fabulous mermaid teal! I wish my camera could capture glistening shimmers in the light ;)

Matte About You - "a matte-nificent cornflower blue" this is a bold cobalt blue shimmer, two coat perfection as well. The shimmering effect is duller than Real Teal, but still very pretty, just not as breathtaking as I hoped it would be. Blues are always my favorite, and this is a unique blue to my collection.

Silver Solution - "a gentle shimmering silver" this is a clear base with micro silver glitters, it can look sheer, in fact I have two coats in my swatch photos and you can still see my nail lines. I assumed this shade was going to be a metallic silver from the look of the bottle, so when it applied as a clear based silver glitter polish, I was floored! It's got the prettiest glisten in the light, all the silver glitters shine beautifully. I really can't tell a difference between no top coat and with a top coat though, it's shiny either way!
