For the past few years I have been subtly drawn to skincare products featuring Vitamin C, but with having sensitive skin, many of them have not been a good match for me. When I spotted the Valentia Even Glow Serum Vitamin C 20% on BrandBacker, of course I was interested to try it, and curious if a concentrated version that also highlights other key ingredients would be gentler on my skin. The Organic Rosehip Seed Oil and Organic Shea Buckthorn Oil are key for hydration (a major need for me) and Even Glow says that these two organic oils are "full of antioxidants and therefore act as the perfect supporting cast for our best friend - Vitamin C". There is also Resistem plant stem cells to promote skin detoxification, botanical Hyaluronic Acid which we all know and love for drawing moisture to the skin and activating collagen production, and Green Tea Extract that is a potent antioxidant with anti-irritant benefits.

The serum is housed in a brown glass bottle with a rubber top dropper to get the right amount of serum for application. When this first arrived I was using it as a nightly serum after cleansing and before my night cream. After a couple weeks use I didn't notice much change in my skin's feel or look. It wasn't until I went on vacation in early September, while battling a fierce cold that also came with a couple nights of fever and chills during the hot hot weather. I started to feel sick the day before vacation and was hoping the serum would help control my skin from the typical breakouts and dry out when I get sick - thankfully it kept me looking alive and clear and dare I say glowy... yes, glowy skin during illness, it was a miracle! My skin, being dry/combo and sensitive, will always break out in randomly placed zits, painful dry spots that turn red and itch, skintone will turn pale and enhance my redness - just a mess. With daily use of the serum, morning and night, my skin showed no signs of me being miserably sick.

I've promoted the serum to my emergency team, for the times I need extra care and protection, because it is gentle on my skin, effective in keeping me balanced and naturally healthy looking, and it is reliable. It doesn't work as amazing in daily use when my skin is normal, which is fine, because I'll use less product over time and have it last longer. I've already added it to my list of products to restock in the future.
