ELF Essential Holiday 5 pc Brightening Eyeshadow Pot Collection - Review & Swatches

Well, I'm very impressed with the ELF Essential Holiday 5 piece Brightening Eyeshadow Pot Collection, $5.00, from their new Gifts section on their website. It includes five eyeshadow singles from neutral to smoky, and the pigmentation is very nice! I remember a couple years ago they had a similar set and the quality was probably half as good as these, huge improvement!

Okay, these shades don't have individual names, which isn't a big deal for the average makeup lover, but as a blogger, I really wish they had names so I could easily labels the swatches and the eye look I created with them. When swatching, these shadows feel like velvet and the color payoff is really nice for $1 eye shadows.

The first shade is a pearly light cream, it swatches beautifully and wears sheerer, great for highlighting or even a light neutral eye look.

The second shade is a chunky sparkly beige, it's not a very opaque eyeshadow, but it is great to use as a glitzy topper for your eye look - which I did and love how it really bumped up the sparkle factor without changing the overall look.

The third shade is a bronzed brown shimmer, very rich in color and beautiful to wear in a neutral look or built up for a smokey eye look.

The fourth shade is a dark charcoal grey with silver sparkles - the sparkles don't show up very much on the eye, they pretty fall out, but the rich dark color is good for defining the eyes.

Lastly, the fifth shade is a bold pinky purple shimmer with a plum undertone, it is very festive and very pigmented.

Swatches are shown without a primer or base, so you can get an idea of how they perform alone, and expect to see them more opaque if used on top of a primer or tacky eyeshadow base.

Here's the eye look I put together with these shadows. I used the ELF Eyelid Primer as a base, and swept the first shade all over the eye area from lashes to brows. I took the fifth shade and concentrated it on the outer half of the lid, and blended up to the crease area. I used the second shade as a glitzy topper on the main lid area. I used the third shade along the lower lash line for a smokier look, as well as using the fourth shade on the upper lash line winged out slightly for more definition and depth. I wore this look for hours and by nighttime when I started to remove my makeup, my eye look was still looking fresh and festive, without any fading or fallout.
