My Grown Up Christmas Wish

This post brought to you by UPS. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Pretty Providence.

Even as a child I loved the words and meaning of the song, “My Grown Up Christmas List.” However, the older I get, the more the words ring true in my life.

I’m not a child
But my heart still can dream

So here’s my lifelong wish
My grown up christmas list
Not for myself
But for a world in need

No more lives torn apart
That wars would never start
And time would heal all hearts
And everyone would have a friend
And right would always win
And love would never end

This is my grown up christmas list

I find myself at the stage of life where I don’t need anything for Christmas, and anything I want is either too expensive to ask for (haha) or impossible to grant.

Maybe that is why I love the #WishesDelivered site so much! It gives us a way to air our “grown up” heartfelt wishes for others, and for each wish submitted UPS gives $1 to one of their partnering charities up to $100,000!

Who wants to hear my wish?

I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’m pregnant, or my baby is about to turn two, or what it is but not a day goes by during this Christmas season when I don’t think about the Mommas and babies in the NICU. The image above is of my oldest son Luke a couple days before he was released to come home! I love this picture because the way those preemie jammies are hanging off him help me to remember how teeny tiny he was.

My grown up wish this year is that every NICU mama could take their baby home for Christmas.

Even though I know that isn’t possible, I am so greatful for the wonderful nurses and doctors who dedicate their lives to helping babies in the newborn intensive care units across the world. I personally have seen medical miracles and I know that it takes a lot of work, sacrifice and money to make that possible, and I’m so grateful for those who have helped neonatal care advance.

Don’t forget that all you have to do to submit your wish is post it on instagram or twitter with the hashtag #wishesdelivered and UPS will donate $1 to charity! I would love to see links to your wishes in the comments, if you submit one!

So.. What’s your wish?

xo,
