Jeju: Hallim Park

Последний день на острове Чеджу мы целиком провели в Парке Халлим. Этот субтропический парк был основан в 1971 году и возведен на безжизненной каменистой пустоши корейским энтузиастом по имени Сон Бом Гю. Сюда были завезены тонны земли, распаханы и засеяны гектары площади, очищены от песка две лавовые пещеры. В 80х-90х годах открыта Фольклорная деревня, сад камней и деревьев бонсай, а уже в 2000 году - основание парка птиц и тропических растений, создание системы прудов и каскадов и открытие сада водяных растений.
Еще много интересных фактов об Чеджудо можно прочитать у Оли, от себя лишь добавлю, что больше всего меня покорили милые харубаны ("каменные деды") - наиболее известный культурный артефакт острова, вырезанные из лавы. Вы без труда узнаете их на фотографиях))
Last post about Korean island Jeju - our trip to Tropical Hallimpark, founded at 1971. According to guidebook, even 50 years ago nothing grew and nobody lived in this place, so Mr. Song purchased this land. removed unused stones, brought soil and planted first seeds of those huge palm trees. In 80s two caves were discovered here, to clean all the sand and stones no power tools were used. Also that time Subtropical Garden, Stone Exhibit Hall were opened. In 2000 Folk Village and Bird Garden welcomed their first guests.
You may notice a lot of 'dol hareubangs' on photos. They are large mushroom-like statues found on Jeju Island and considered to be gods offering both protection and fertility and were placed outside of gates for protection against demons travelling between realities.
