The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway.

Today's outfit post is something a little bit different! Ever since I first saw Frozen, I really connected with Elsa. Seeing a Disney character battle with isolation, insecurity, loneliness, and a fear of lashing out at those they love, only to overcome those things and become one strong, beautiful, badass individual (with amazing style!) gave me hope at a time in my life when I really needed it. Let It Go became my personal anthem as I began coming to terms with my mental health back in December, and I would go so far as to say that it truly helped me make the first steps towards getting my life back on track. The lyrics, 'It's time to see what I can do, to test the limits and break through - no right, no wrong, no rules for me - I'm free', stick with me on a daily basis, and have given me a strength I didn't know I had.
I loved Elsa so much that she became the final push I needed to finally attempt cosplay, something I've been itching to try for years. Back in December/January I began my first costume, and whilst I spent weeks on all the little details, ultimately the fit was a bit strange and I didn't feel comfortable wearing it. Then, a month or so ago, my friend Shannon told me about a Frozen singalong in London, and we decided to book tickets for the show this coming Saturday night. I used it as an opportunity to make Elsa V.2, a less accurate but cheaper, sturdier version of her outfit. I'm so pleased with how it turned out in such a short space of time, and I feel so confident wearing it. My favourite part has to be the glittering snowflakes Sophie of Crown and Glory made me - she really does make all of my headgear dreams come true!
I honestly can't wait to wear it out and about on Saturday, although I'm sure I'll get the odd strange look! Thankfully Shannon is working on an Olaf costume, so we'll make quite the pair. My dorky tendencies are definitely showing... Oh well!
